Notes:
Built in the 1880s it became a hospital during WWI. Following the War it open as maternity home in 1920.
In 1930 248 cases were admitted which accounted for 35 percent of the total births in the Borough of Eastbourne. The maternity home closed in 1976. It continued to serve as an administration centre, but in 2000 it was demolished and replaced by a block of flats, Marlborough House.
Prime Minister Theresa May was born at this maternity home, who’s father the Rev Hubert Brasier was the Chaplin for the All Saints Hospital and Chapel in the 1950s.
